Chapter 8

Ralph- This chapter mainly shows the conflict between Jack and Ralph. There have been soo many fights in the past few chapters that Ralph doesn't know what to do. He has lost hope in the group no matter how hard he tries to make it work and make the other boys follow the rules.
Jack- Jack is now hungry for power. He starts getting really jealous of Ralph, he takes the trumpet-shell and blows through it to call for a meeting. In the meeting he tells the boys that Ralph should be stripped of his leadership and the leadership should be given to him. He starts getting aggressive and once he realises that a lot of boys want Ralph as their leader, he decides to leave the group.
Piggy- In this chapter, Piggy is shown as a person who tries to calm Ralph down and tell him that everything is fine. He suggests a new idea to Ralph to try and cheer him up, which worked and they started working on it.

Theme- This chapter mainly shows that once Ralph and the other boys started working on the new emergency signal, the other boys ran away to Jack's group. This made Ralph feel even worse after realising that he was only trying to help them so that they could survive.
